Physics (9702)
AS and A Level Physics notes following the Cambridge International 9702 syllabus, including practical skills.
Margin's Physics notes follow the Cambridge International AS & A Level Physics syllabus (9702), in two courses: AS Physics and A Level Physics.
Courses and papers#
| Course | Label | Covers | Assessed in |
|---|---|---|---|
| AS Physics | AS | The AS topics and practical skills | Paper 1 (multiple choice), Paper 2 (AS structured questions), Paper 3 (advanced practical skills) |
| A Level Physics | A2 | The A Level topics and planning skills | Paper 4 (A Level structured questions), Paper 5 (planning, analysis and evaluation) |
A Level papers can also test AS content, so A Level notes link back to the AS notes they build on.
AS Physics#
Physical quantities and units, kinematics, dynamics, forces, density and pressure, work, energy and power, deformation of solids, waves, superposition, electricity, d.c. circuits and particle physics.
The course ends with a practical skills unit for Paper 3, which will cover taking and recording measurements, uncertainties, drawing and using graphs, and evaluating an experiment.
A Level Physics#
Motion in a circle, gravitational fields, temperature, ideal gases, thermodynamics, oscillations, electric fields, capacitance, magnetic fields, alternating currents, quantum physics, nuclear physics, medical physics, and astronomy and cosmology.
The course ends with a planning, analysis and evaluation unit for Paper 5, which will cover designing an experiment, choosing variables and apparatus, and analysing data with logarithms and uncertainties.
What is available now#
Physics notes are being written in syllabus order, unit by unit. Units without notes are hidden in the app, so the sidebar and the Physics page always show what you can read today.
What to expect in a note#
- Definitions in the syllabus's own words, for those that are examined word for word
- Key result blocks with every symbol and its SI unit
- Practical skills blocks covering apparatus, method, variables, uncertainties and improvements
- Graphs of motion, fields and other relationships, which open in the grapher
- Worked examples with units carried through, and answers to a sensible number of significant figures
Units follow the syllabus style, such as rather than m/s².
