Planner
Set your exam dates, rate your confidence in each topic, and generate a revision schedule that puts weak topics first.
The planner turns your exam dates and your own sense of which topics need work into a day-by-day schedule. Open it from Planner in the sidebar, or from the Next exam tile on the home page.
The page has three parts: your exams, the week view, and your topics.
Exams#
Add each course you are sitting: choose it from Choose a course, pick the date, and choose Add exam. Each course can have one exam date, so a course disappears from the list once it has one.
Each exam row shows the course, a bar of how your notes in it are rated, and a countdown: Today, Tomorrow, a number of days, then weeks or months further out. Once the date has passed the row says Passed. Click the date to change it, or hover the row and choose × to remove it.
Exam dates also appear on the home dashboard and under Upcoming exams in Progress.
Rating topics#
The Topics section lists every note in a subject, course by course and unit by unit, in syllabus order. Use the subject tabs to switch subject. Beside each topic are three levels, shown as small bars:
| Level | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Learning | Still working through it |
| Confident | Can do most questions on it |
| Mastered | Exam-ready, nothing left to learn |
Hover a level to see its name. A topic you have not rated is New. Each course header shows how many of its notes you have studied and a bar of how they are rated. Click a topic to open its note.
These are the same ratings as the progress control on every note, so rating a topic here or on the note itself does the same thing. See Progress.
Generating a plan#
Choose Generate plan at the top of the page. You need at least one exam date in the future. For each course with an upcoming exam, the planner:
- takes every note in the course you have not rated Mastered
- orders them weakest first: Learning topics (including notes marked studied but not rated), then topics you have not started, then Confident topics
- adds a second session later in the plan for every topic still at Learning or New
- spreads the sessions evenly across the days from today until the day before the exam, keeping each day to a similar number of sessions
Each session appears as a task on its day. If you have flashcards due, the plan also adds a Review due flashcards task for today.
Generating again adds a further round of sessions on top of the ones already planned. It never puts the same topic twice on one day, but it does not remove or move earlier sessions. To rebuild the plan after updating your ratings, choose Clear first, then Generate plan.
Generate a plan after rating your topics honestly. A plan built on every topic rated Confident has nothing to prioritise.
The week view#
The calendar shows one week, Monday to Sunday, starting with the current week. The heading shows how many of the week's tasks are done. Use the arrows to move a week at a time and Today to come back.
| To | Do this |
|---|---|
| Open a planned topic | Click the task to open its note |
| Review flashcards | Click the review task to open Flashcards |
| Mark a task done | Tick its checkbox |
| Add your own task | Type in Add task at the bottom of a day and press Enter |
| Remove a task | Hover it and choose × |
| Start over | Choose Clear to remove every planned session that is not done |
Ticking off a planned topic also marks its note studied. Planned topics you have already rated show their level beside the task.
Clear removes generated sessions only: your own tasks and anything you have ticked off are kept. The message that confirms it has an Undo button if you clear by mistake.
Where it is saved#
Exam dates and tasks are saved with the rest of your study data: in your browser as a guest, or in your account when signed in. See Accounts and sync.
